GUWAHATI: Guwahati is set to get a brand-new double rail-cum-road Saraighat Bridge, with construction scheduled to begin in the next three months, as per reports.

The project is expected to be completed within three years, significantly improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion.
With ₹1 lakh crore allocated for railway safety in the budget, the new bridge will feature advanced security measures, including Kavach, a state-of-the-art railway safety system designed to prevent collisions.
Despite the new construction, the old Saraighat Bridge will remain operational, ensuring uninterrupted movement of vehicles and trains. Additionally, 350 to 400 special trains will operate through the region using both bridges, further streamlining transportation.
