In a state title and award giving ceremony held in Guwahati Press Club on March 23, the socio-cultural organisation, Sanskritik Mahasabha Assam bestowed sports star Hima Das with the ‘Swarna Kanya’ award.
Others who were awarded at the ceremony include renowned singer Mahendra Hazarika who was conferred with the ‘Gitratna’ award, comedian Sidhartha Sarma was given the ‘Rasaratna’ award, Zublee Baruah the ‘Sangeet Kuwori award,’ Bipin Chaudang the ‘Sangit Saurav’ award and Neel Akash with the ‘Sangit Kunwar’ award.
Meghalaya’s former Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mushahary was the chief guest for the occasion and Utpal Baruah, editor of Dainik Janambhumi and Barnali Sarma, Director, Assam Government Cultural Department were also present at the award giving ceremony.
