Sanitary Pad Machines In Schools And Bank Loans To Self Help Groups Launched In Nalbari

GUWAHATI: Assam cabinet minister Jayanta Mallabaruah unveiled a series of developmental initiatives at the Nalbari on December 6.

The key highlights of the event include:

1.    Launch of Sanitary Pad Vending Machines:
•    Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, Minister Mallabaruah inaugurated the installation of Sanitary Pad Vending Machines in educational institutions. This initiative aims to support girls from economically disadvantaged families, ensuring their access to sanitary hygiene products. The provision of these machines is expected to contribute to the overall health and well-being of girls, thereby reducing dropout rates.
2.    Distribution of Bank Loans to Self-Help Groups (SHGs):
•    In a move to empower local communities, Mallabaruah handed over bank loan cheques to 917 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM). The total amount disbursed amounted to 66.99 crores, providing a financial boost to these SHGs and fostering economic activities at the grassroots level.
3.    Launch of 'Pragya App' for Sanitation Services:
•    The minister inaugurated the “Pragya App,” designed to offer information and services related to sanitation. The app will cater to the residents of Nalbari and Tihu, providing a digital platform for accessing essential sanitation-related information and services.

In addition to these key initiatives, Jal Seva Awards were presented during the event. These awards aim to recognise and encourage effective maintenance of Piped Water Supply Schemes (PWSS) and promote community engagement in water-related initiatives.
