GUWAHATI: In a recent crackdown on the illicit trade of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam conducted a raid at a residence in Pub Sarania under Chandmari Police Stationon the evening of March 14, 2024. The operation led to the apprehension of two individuals involved in dealing with FICN.

The raid, based on reliable intelligence inputs, targeted a house situated in By Lane 4, Pub Sarania, where Junmoni Saikia resides. During the operation, authorities discovered two individuals engaging in the production and distribution of FICN using a specialised printing machine.

The raid resulted in the seizure of several items, including one FICN printing machine, FICN amounting to ₹50,000 in ₹500 denomination, three mobile phones, one two-wheeler, and one car. The two individuals apprehended during the raid are identified as Saifuddin Suja (32 years) hailing from Sarthepur, Bihpuria, Lakhimpur and Debraj Karmakar (30 years), resident of Bongaigaon.
