GUWAHATI: In the recent Cabinet meeting held on February 9, the Assam Government decided to boost the district-level healthcare.
The State Government has approved the World Bank-funded 'Assam State Secondary healthcare Initiative for Service delivery Transformation (ASSIST)' project for ₹2,529.17 crore to improve district-level healthcare services.
The boost in the district level healthcare as per the cabinet decision will include:
• Construction of new 100-200 bed District Hospitals in ten districts
• Improving the functionality of existing health infrastructure of 25 District Hospitals
• Strengthening hospital management cadre by building comprehensive capacity building protocols
• Improving nursing and para medical education systems by targeting 44 nursing schools for infrastructure, process and skills improvement; upgrading GNM in phased manner to BSc Nursing
• Improvement of BSc/MSc Nursing Colleges with Centres of Excellence to provide specialised skill upgrade training
• Improvement of Dental Colleges by improving functionality to deliver quality education and management capacity
• Strengthening management and data systems, including integrated Health Management Information System, Electronic Medical Record systems.
