GUWAHATI: In the Union Budget 2020-21 presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the centre increased allocation for the Special Protection Group (SPG), which protects Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from Rs. 540 crore to nearly Rs. 600 crore.
It is to be mentioned that currently PM Modi is the only person in the country to be protected by the SPG.
Earlier in 2019, the SPG cover of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was withdrawn.
