GUWAHATI: Tragedy struck a family on Monday when a head-on collision between a Bolero pickup van and a Dumper truck occurred on National Highway 115 at Bokapathar in the Sadiya district resulting in the loss of three lives while leaving two others critically injured.
The deceased have been identified as Binod Sonar (father), Dalmaya Sonar (mother), and Dil Bahadur Sonar (son).
According to preliminary reports, the family had arrived in Sadiya from Nepal earlier that morning.
They were en route to attend a relative's wedding in the vicinity when the accident occurred.
The collision between the vehicles proved fatal, leading to the untimely demise of the three family members.
The two surviving passengers in the Bolero pickup, whose identities have not yet been confirmed yet, have been immediately transferred to Tinsukia for further medical treatment.
Their injuries were described as critical, emphasising the need for advanced medical care.
Authorities and local law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, securing the area and initiating investigations into the cause of the tragic incident.
