GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has approved the Assam Public Distribution of Articles (Amendment) Order, 2025, extending the Fair Price Shop (FPS) license renewal period from three to five years.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this decision following a state cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 5.
The amendment has been upheld to provide more stability for FPS operators, ensuring smoother distribution of essential commodities to beneficiaries.
Additionally, the cabinet has also considered allocating an investment of ₹42.72 crore to promote cluster development in small industries across the state.
