Riyan Parag Returns From Injury To Lead Assam In Ranji Trophy

Parag’s last competitive appearance was in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in October last year. He subsequently missed the T20I series against South Africa and the ongoing series against England due to a shoulder injury that required surgery. While he was also absent from India's Champions Trophy squad, this return to match action could help him regain match fitness should India require him as cover next month.

Parag has represented India in ten white-ball internationals, making his debut against Zimbabwe in a T20I in Harare in July 2024.

In the previous Ranji Trophy season, Parag scored 378 runs in six innings at an average of 75.60 and a strike rate of 113.85. He also topped the six-hitting charts with 20 maximums.

The Assam squad for the match is as follows: Riyan Parag (capt), Denish Das (vice-capt), Mukhtar Hussain, Mrinmoy Dutta, Rahul Singh, Dipjyoti Saikia, Parvez Musaraf, Sumit Ghadigaonkar (wk), Rishav Das, Anurag Talukdar (wk), Avinav Choudhury, Sibsankar Roy, Akash Sengupta, Pradyun Saikia, and Amlanjyoti Das.
