Rima Das Bags 'Best Director Award' For Bulbul Can Sing

GUWAHATI: Critically acclaimed director, Rima Das bagged the 'Best Director Award' for Bulbul Can Sing at the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) held in Mumbai on September 29.

Speaking on the occation Rima said,"I'm really excited to receive the Best Director award for Bulbul Can Sing at Jagran Film Festival. It's such an honor and privilege to share this award with veteran filmmaker Aparna Sen. A big thank you to the jury and the festival for bestowing this honor on me. Also, warm congratulations to all the winners. I feel really happy to be connected to this festival. My last film Village Rockstars also won the best film award here last year. Hope the cycle continues!" 

Earlier, on September 20 the movie, 'Bulbul Can Sing' was released across all the theatres of Assam.

The movie has won the Rajat Kamal Award in the regional language film category at the 66th National Film Awards. Bulbul Can Sing has also won the National Award for the Best Assamese Film for 2019.

Moreover, the movie has also won the Best Indie Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in Victoria, Australia.

Prior to this Bulbul Can Sing was screened at international platforms and the most prestigious film festivals of the world including Toronto Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival.

The film is a poignant cinematic essay on the difficult transitional stage between childhood and adulthood. 

JFF is an initiative by the Jagran Prakashan Group towards creating a culture of cinema appreciation and an honest and sincere attempt create a platform that connects great content with audiences across the country.
