Assam: Residents Suffer Aftermath Of Cyclone In Jorhat; No Electricity, Water Yet

GUWAHATI: The residents of Jorhat town are still suffering from the aftermath of the cyclone that brought life to a standstill on Monday, October 21.

It has been two days since the cyclone hit and residents have complained that electricity and water supply is still not available to them.

“It has been two days since the cyclone and we are suffering tremendously as electricity has been totally cut off since Monday. In my house, we don’t have water supply also till now,” said Rituraj, a resident of Jorhat town.

He further added that even though some men are working to restore power, the technology there “is too old and it shouldn’t take this long to restore normalcy after a small cyclone.”

While another resident mentioned that pipe LPG supply is also not available at many locations in the town.

The cyclone lashed the town and uprooted trees and electric poles. Electric wires were snapped and power supply was also cut off at many places.

According to reports, around 12 to 15 poles were broken, out of which five are located in AT Road.

Roofs of several houses and colleges also blew off during the storm.
