GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Home Minister, James K. Sangma has said that the multi-agency operation to search for the remaining 13 miners trapped in a flooded rathole mine at Ksan village in Meghalaya will continue according to directions by the Supreme Court.
The multi-agency search and rescue operation had got a shot in its arms with the Army joining in the efforts on January 29. The multi-agency includes around 200 rescue personnel from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Navy, Odisha Fire service and other state agencies.
East Jaintia Hills district Deputy Commissioner, F. M. Dopth stated that an army team has set up tents near the incident site for uninterrupted operations by the Indian Navy.

Out of the two decomposed bodies that were found over 200 feet away from the bottom of the main shaft, only one could be pulled out and was handed over to family members in Assam.
On December 13, 15 miners were trapped in an illegal rat-hole mine that had collapsed after water from an adjacent abandoned mine and a nearby river flooded it.
