GUWAHATI: Reports suggesting the escape of an inmate from Hatigaon Police Station on December 15 have been found to be false. Official statements from police authorities have confirmed the report.
According to various media reports, the inmate fled from police custody while he was taken to the washroom early this morning with handcuffs on.
The situation reportedly turned tense at the Hatigaon police station right after the incident and they launched a man-hunt for the absconding prisoner. But, official reports from the police confirmed otherwise.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Hatigaon Police Station said, “This is a false case, as no prisoner has escaped. The people brought a person on the alleged charges of stealing wires but it turned out to be false so we dropped the case and the person walked out.”
