Reopening of Schools: Assam Govt to Explore Possibilities, Probable Date After Aug 31

GUWAHATI: Keeping in mind the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of keeping schools and educational institutions shut till at least 31st August 2020, education minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, today announced in a press conference from Janata Bhawan that the state government would be seeking to explore the options and possibilities of reopening of schools and educational institutions from 1st September given that the COVID situation eases further up by then.

The minister however made it very clear that the government is not yet announcing the reopening of schools but would seriously explore the possibilities of a reopening date from 1st September onwards.

Sarma also gave a broad idea of how schools in rural areas would function in the open fields or compounds and not in enclosed classrooms. As regards schools in the city, the government would take a relook at the situation in the month of September.
