GUWAHATI: Renowned Khasi-Jaintia singer, Bibiana Modi War passed away on Thursday, January 19 at her residence in Nongrah. 84-year-old Modi was one of the most popular female vocalists of Khasi-Jaintia songs and music for many decades.
Her much-coveted Khasi and Jaintia songs were played on All India Radio's Khasi and Jaintia program. Bibiana was affectionately known as Modi in the community.
In addition to her performances of Khasi and Jaintia songs on Doordarshan and All India Radio, Modi was frequently requested to perform heart-warming songs from her extensive repertoire at cultural events and concerts.
The funeral will take place on January 21, at 2 PM and she will be buried at the Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery.
