Among the most affected is the Zoo Road locality, witnessing a major spike in cases in recent weeks.

Talking to G Plus, an official from Assam Health Department said, "Key areas including Bhaskar Nagar, Karbi Path, Ambikagiri Nagar, and Bamunimaidam Railway Colony have seen a surge in case."

It may also be noted that due to the scarcity of portable water around the city, residents opt for keeping excess water stored in their homes. As a result, it has led to the outgrowth of mosquitoes in numbers.

Alongside Guwahati, Dima Hasao has seen a similar spike in dengue cases, registering an alarming number of 441 cases.

However, the number of dengue cases is expected to lessen over the coming months, as the weather during winter generally reduces the mosquito biting index.
