GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms along with red and orange alerts over several parts of Assam and Northeast India over the next 24 hours, as of a report on October 6.
According to the report, light to moderate rainfall is expected over most places in Assam with very heavy rainfall over isolated places. Extremely heavy rainfall followed by thunderstorms and lightning is also expected across parts of Assam and Meghalaya.
Additionally, the residents have been advised to stay alert and away from vulnerable areas prone to waterlogging. Localised flooding has been predicted in various isolated areas. The possibility of recurrent flash floods may be seen along with disruption in traffic and city-wide facilities. Visibility may also be affected with various areas prone to damage and landslides.
