To secure loans from banks like ABFL and Axis, the suspects allegedly used forged Aadhaar and PAN cards.

The operation was carried out following reports of fraudulent activities targeting financial institutions. It is a follow-up of several arrests made throughout the previous year in a bid to tackle the ongoing rise of cyber criminals in the state.

Maharashtra police had earlier uncovered a vast network of cybercriminals linked to a high-profile scam on December 12. Further investigations led to Guwahati, where several fraudulent bank accounts with substantial funds were identified.

Another notable incident took place on November 28, when Tamil Nadu’s cybercrime branch arrested four individuals in Guwahati for defrauding a victim of ₹3.2 crore. The suspects, linked to a sophisticated digital fraud scheme, were placed in custody at the Pan Bazar Police Station.

Authorities have adopted a proactive approach to tackle this recent surge in cyber crime, with multiple inter-state collaborations and crackdowns targeting fraudulent networks.
