GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam’s Home (A) Department has issued a notification on Friday, January 3, detailing significant appointments and promotions of senior IPS officers in the state. The changes, effective from January 1 are aimed at enhancing public service and ensuring efficient law enforcement.
Munna Prasad Gupta, who was recently promoted to the Higher Administrative Grade Plus (HAG+) has been appointed as the Special Director General of Police (CID), Assam. Gupta, who previously served as the Additional Director General of Police (CID), will continue his work at the CID headquarters in Ulubari, Guwahati.
Partha Sarathi Mahanta, who was substantively posted as the Inspector General of Police (STF), Assam, at Srimantapur, Guwahati has been entrusted with the responsibilities of Commissioner of Police for the Guwahati Police Commissionerate.
Ankur Jain, formerly Commandant of the 10th Assam Police Battalion at Kahilipara, has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG). Jain has been posted as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (AP), Assam, at Ulubari, Guwahati, for the purpose of salary and allowances. Furthermore, he has been assigned the role of Joint Commissioner of Police for the Guwahati Police Commissionerate.
The Home (A) Department has emphasised that these decisions were made in the interest of public service.
