Ranoj Pegu: Assam UG, PG Admission 2024 Through Samarth To Continue Till July 31 With On Spot Admissions

 

GUWAHATI: Students from Assam have been facing issues getting admission to undergraduate courses through the Samarth portal for Assam State Universities, causing widespread frustration among prospective students. According to the website of Samarth, the first merit list was supposed to be released on the June 10, but it was postponed to June 13 and then to June 19.

Admission for UG, Masters, and Postgraduate programs was slated to be conducted through the common admission portal - assamadmission.samarth.ac.in.

Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, took to X on June 20, to announce that, “The total first, second and third merit lists for admission to Assam colleges and Universities, would be out consequently, after which students can take admission through the Samarth eGov website until July 31, along with the facility of spot admissions as well. 598 colleges are registered he said, from which 524 have released their merit list for admissions. 74 have yet to release, and I request them to fasten their scrutiny and start the admission process. I assure that every student gets the opportunity to get admission to the designated colleges, so no one should panic or worry that they would not be able to take admissions.”

 

However, due to the delay in issuing the first merit list on June 19, it was issued on June 20, but not for all colleges. 524 of the 598 registered colleges have produced merit lists, while the other institutions are yet to do so, as quoted by Pegu.

He further announced that the Admission for UG is to be open on the portal: assamadmission.samarth.ac.in. until June 31.

The Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal ‘Samarth’ was made to provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the state, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. The single portal will enable the candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to Assam State Universities.

Earlier, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu while launching the portal said that that students will be able to enroll in every institution of higher learning in the state through this portal starting this academic year.
