Ranji Trophy 2022: Dhruv Shorey’s Double Century Steadies Delhi’s Ship Against Assam

GUWAHATI: Seven-Time Champion Delhi after having received some early blows managed to steady themselves and put up a respectable total against Assam on Day 2 of their Elite Group B Match of the Ranji Trophy on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. 

Riding on a brilliantly tailored Double ton by Dhruv Shorey who remained unbeaten at 252 runs off as many as 315 deliveries helped the visitors post 439 runs in 110 overs for the loss of 10 wickets. Dhruv’s Double ton consisted of 34 boundaries and two sixes. The visitors were bundled out for this total. 

Injury woes struck the hosts trailing by 419 runs on Day 2 with Batter Rahul Hazarika retired hurt. Assam Skipper Kunal Saikia who had led a fightback against Saurashtra in their Ranji opener remains unbeaten at 10 runs while Batter Rishav Das remains unbeaten at 5 runs with Assam having put up 20 runs on the scoreboard, thus far. 

Among the Assam Bowlers, Dibrugarh boy Mukhtar Hussain took 1 wicket while bowling 28 overs and giving away 81 runs. Mrinmoy Dutta on the other hand bowled 25 overs and gave away 79 runs while having scalped 3 wickets for the hosts. Akash Sengupta on the other hand, bowled 26 overs while giving away 107 runs and having scalped 2 wickets.  Siddhart Sarmah gave 53 runs having bowled 13 overs with an economy rate of 4.03 even as he scalped 3 wickets for his side.
