GUWAHATI: Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference on 23rd March informed that all railway services have been suspended to and from the state till 31st March.
However, for airlines operation, only the essential flights will be operating for the procurement of goods and other medical necessities.
Interstate transport for both public and private vehicles have also been suspended and the state borders will be sealed.
Sarma further informed that due to suspension of all travel operations, the state government will not be able to evacuate citizens of Assam who are stuck in other parts of the country. As such the respective state government have to take up responsibility of such people if tested positive of COVID-19.
