The Ministry of Railways has developed a web based platform called Safety Information Management System (SIMS) to ensure safety of the passengers.
The platform was developed after the Ministry of Railways emphasised the culture of "Safety First."
A statement released by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) stated, "As part of the initiative, staff are encouraged as well as rewarded for voluntary disclosure of any unsafe practices or occurences. For voluntary reporting, the required confidentiality is maintained so as to encourage employees to voluntarily report safety hazards, safety risks, potential hazardous conditions, unsafe practices and inadvertent errors. There is also provision to upload images or a document while reporting any hazards."
The application also manages and processes information related to any train accidents.
