GUWAHATI: Indian National Congress’ (INC) president Rahul Gandhi is planning to contest from the Amethi seat again in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to a party leader.

In a report by IANS, the leader also added that the Gandhi family has been connected to Amethi for a long time now, since 1967, and have done a lot of work there. Congress is going to put up a tough fight there in 2024.

This was Rahul Gandhi’s fourth time contesting from Amethi since 2004. On May 23, 2019, he lost the seat to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP), Smriti Irani, by a margin of over 55,000 votes. However, he won from Kerala’s Wayanad by a record margin.

It should be noted that the Congress president had apparently offered his resignation to the Congress Working Committee (CWC). Reports have also indicated that top leaders of the party have rejected his resignation.
