GUWAHATI: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and 69 indigenous organizations took to the streets of Guwahati on Thursday, January 10 to stage a protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in front of Janata Bhavan.
The protestors displayed the ‘Axomiya Gamusa’ to show their distress against the Bill. The Gamusa is of great significance to the people of Assam and the protestors have used this as a sign to show their agitations against the Assam government for supporting the passing of the Bill.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on January 9, but it was stalled following strong opposition from the Congress, Trinamool Congress and other parties after the Lok Sabha passed the Bill on Wednesday.
