Progress of Northeast region was neglected during Congress Regime: PM Modi

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Guwahati to inaugurate several projects in the state. He is speaking at a rally in Changsari where he has slammed the opposition party, Congress throughout his speech. 

He said that while Congress was in power, the entire northeastern region and its progress were neglected. He went on to add that since the BJP came into power, this region has been developing at a very fast rate. 

The PM also said that the BJP honoured two sons of the state, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Gopinath Bordoloi. 

“I wish Bhupen Hazarika was alive to receive the award himself. He should have been honoured while he was present amongst us but the Congress failed to do so,” he said. 

PM Modi then added that around Rs. 14,000 crore worth of projects have been completed in Assam in the past 4 years only in oil and gas. And, Rs. 9500 crore worth projects are ongoing.
