GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police issued an order on Monday, February 10, restricting all processions within the city, effective immediately.

This directive was issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, citing concerns over traffic congestion and public safety.
According to the order, large gatherings and processions often result in severe traffic disruptions, affecting vehicular movement and causing inconvenience to commuters.
The delay in accessibility of emergency services has also been mentioned in the order, which has prompted authorities to take the measure.
Notably, citizens who wish to challenge the order have been advised to file written objections for consideration.
