GUWAHATI: A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Hengrabari area of Guwahati on Sunday, February 9. The deceased, identified as Sewali Kalita, allegedly died by suicide in the bathroom of her residence.

The incident occurred while her husband, Pankaj Mahanta, was at home. Upon discovering the situation, he cut the long scarf with which she had hanged herself before the police arrived.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Dispur Police Station stated, “A woman was found dead in the Hengrabari area. The woman allegedly died by suicide in the bathroom. Her husband was at home at the time and cut the scarf before we arrived. Further investigation is underway to determine the reason and cause of death. No suspects have been identified.”
