President Kovind Mentions Assamese Poet Ambikagiri Raichoudhury in Recent Budget Session Speech

President Ram Nath Kovind, while delivering a speech at the inaugural day of the budget session that took place on Friday, cited 'Asom Kesari' and nationalist poet Ambikagiri Raichoudhury who had laid the foundation for enhancing Assamese identity within the framework of the grand Indian nationality.

The President recited a verse written by Ambikagiri Raichoudhury and also spoke about his belief in India achieving great success by binding together.

The President said, "Whenever India had remained united, it has been able to attain even seemingly unattainable goals. The solidarity and Pujya Bapu's inspiration had given us freedom from hundreds of years of colonial rule. Reverberating the same spirit and enthusiasm, Assam Kesari Ambikagiri Raichoudhury had said: Om tat sat Bharat mahat, ek chetonaat, ek dhyanot, ek sadhonat, ek abegot, ek hoi jaa".

The President translated the verse saying that India's grandeur is the supreme truth. In one single consciousness, one thought, one devotion, one inspiration, let us unite.

Through his speech it is quite evident that Indian nationalism consciousness has been alive for long. The verse establishes the idea of ek Bharat, shresth Bharat.
