GUWAHATI: A premature baby born at 26 weeks of gestation, weighing just 726 grams, was successfully discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after more than three months of intensive care.

The baby, born on October 9, 2024, via in vitro fertilization (IVF), faced multiple health complications associated with extreme prematurity, including respiratory issues and underdeveloped organs. The medical team at GMCH closely monitored and treated the baby, ensuring gradual progress over the months.
Talking to GPlus, a senior official from GMCH said, "Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone! A baby born on 9/10/24 at just 26 weeks gestation and weighing just 726 grams, has successfully "graduated" from our NICU"
He further added, "To Dhanjita Pathak and family, we're honored to have been a part of your journey. May this little one continue to flourish and bring immense joy to your lives!"
