Poor Road Conditions Plague Ajanta Path Residents In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Ajanta Path lane at Survey in Beltola is an important connecting road. It connects Hatigaon with Survey and is often used by commuters as a short cut to reach the two places. After over a decade or more of its construction, the road is in dire need of maintenance. Initially, the road was able to hold the daily traffic but after new settlers started using the stretch it seems to have reached its saturation point.

Several building projects have also caused the road to deteriorate. The major concerns at Ajanta Path are the large number of potholes. Speaking to G Plus, a local resident Bikash said that he is wary of taking out his car and driving it over certain sections of the road as he is scared his car might get damaged.

Hirok, another local resident of the area is nervous to take his evening walks as the route is always bustling with vehicles, especially in the evening.
Another resident, Priya added that the vehicles often end up parking on both sides of the road instead of parking it in one uniform way, on one side of the road. Also, insensitive car owners park their vehicles right in front of her house thereby blocking the gate, said Priya.

Ajanta Path acts an important link road and was probably not built to handle the kind of traffic it witnesses now. Further, the rickshaws, e-rickshaws, street vendors spilling over to footpaths of the area is not helping.
