Politicising Dr Manmohan Singh's Birthday Reflects Rahul Gandhi's Shallowness, says Himanta Biswa

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Dr Manmohan Singh's 88th birthday, Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi reflected upon the tenure of the former Prime Minister (PM) of India.

"India feels the absence of a PM with the depth of Dr Manmohan Singh. His honesty, decency, and dedication are a source of inspiration for us all," said Rahul Gandhi.

Dr Manhohan Singh, who served as the 13th Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, celebrated his birthday on Saturday, September 26.

Wishing Singh on his birthday, the Congress leader further said, "Wishing him a very happy birthday and a lovely year ahead."

Meanwhile, Assam BJP leader and Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Chief Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to Rahul Gandhi's remarks. Sarma countered Rahul Gandhi over politicizing the issue.

"Dear Rahul Gandhi, what an irony you suspected the honesty of Dr Manmohan Singh by tearing his Ordinance and labelling it "complete nonsense." Your obsession to cheaply politicise everything, including birthday of MMS, reflects your continued absence of mind & depth of shallowness," tweeted the Health Minister of Assam.
