In its recent guidelines, the police emphasized the need for CCTV surveillance at pandals and a 24x7 help desk to assist visitors during the festival. However, smaller localities in the city are finding it difficult to afford the necessary equipment.

Talking to GPlus, a member of a puja committee in Lachit Nagar said, "Every year we celebrate Durga Puja within our neighbourhood, but it's not possible for us to install CCTV cameras since our budget is very low." Another committee member from Birubari talking to GPlus said, "Though the administration has asked us to set up CCTV cameras, we cannot afford to buy or rent them."

However, talking to GPlus, a  senior official from the Commissioner of Police’s office assured that pandals unable to install CCTV cameras will not be left without security.
Talking to GPlus, the senior official said, "We understand that some local committees are facing financial constraints and cannot afford CCTV cameras. In such cases, we will step in to ensure safety. Where there are no cameras, we will deploy more patrolling vehicles and officers, and there will be extra vigilance around those areas. Our aim is to prevent any disturbances and maintain peace during the festivities."
