Assam: Two Afghan immigrants arrested in Karimganj

GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, the Police apprehended two Afghan nationals on 29 April. The police raided a residence at Patharkandi in Karimganj district and nabbed the two Afghan nationals who were residing there illegally. 

They managed to procure a PAN card, aadhaar card and birth certificates in Karimganj.

The two individuals came to India several years back and initially stayed at Dumdum in West Bengal. However, according to reports, after their visa expired in 2017, they moved to Assam and settled at Patharkandi in Karimganj.

The Afghan nationals have been identified as Bahadur Khan and Shir Khan.
