Police clarification on former CM’s Z+ security row

From the reports published in a section of the media, it has come to the notice of the Government that the State Government has been blamed for removing Z+ security cover of Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble MLA & Ex-Chief Minister, Assam.  In this regard, it is clarified that Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble MLA & Ex-Chief Minister, Assam continues to be placed in the list of Z+ category protectees in Assam. His mobile security cover was provided by the CAPF (NSG) personnel along with the Assam Police. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has decided to withdraw CAPF (NSG) mobile security cover of Tarun Gogoi. This decision has been taken independently by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. The Government of Assam has not been consulted in this regard.    This is also reiterated that the Government of Assam is duty bound to ensure safety and security of its people. The persons with high threat perception are provided with adequate personal security cover by Assam Police. Tarun Gogoi, MLA and Ex-Chief Minister, will be provided adequate security by the Assam Police commensurate to the threat level he faces.    Stay updated on the go with GPlus News.
