PNB Organised a Mega Credit Camp in Presence of Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal

The Punjab National Bank (PNB), Guwahati Zonal Office held a Mega Credit Delivery Camp at Dharapur on January 7. The event was organized to mark the beginning of operations at the Bank’s new Kamrup Circle Office, Zonal Audit Office and PNB Loan Point at Dharapur. 


Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his satisfaction on the various initiatives taken up by the PNB Parivaar in strengthening Rural India and providing a boost to the youth of Assam, esp. in the Agriculture sector. 


Sonowal was hopeful that the Government’s continued focus towards Assam shall pave way for the farmers of the state in capturing overseas markets, especially in the South East Asian countries in a robust way. 


The Chief Minister further urged the youth of Assam to consider the bank branches as part of their family, to ensure that every penny taken as loan is utilised in a proper way, generating sufficient income to repay the loan and earn a respectable livelihood. A request was also placed to the PNB management for organising district wise Banking Awareness camps to provide hands on knowledge to the youth in availing Bank credit and the importance of repayment while generating revenue. 


Thanking the Chief Minister, the Zonal Manager of PNB Guwahati Zone (North East) S S Singh promised to work dedicatedly towards the economic development of North East India and upliftment of living standards of its people. 


Singh also outlined the bank’s major initiatives taken for the state of Assam and its people during his deliberation. In a gesture citing the Punjab National Bank’s commitment towards the people of the state, S S Singh handed a cheque of Rs. 25,00,000/- (Twenty Five Lakh) over to the Chief Minister as a contribution to the “Chief Minister’s Relief Fund”. 


Sanction letters were distributed to a number of beneficiaries who thanked the PNB officials for faster delivery of services. The event concluded with the customary vote of thanks offered by Ramesh Chandra, Deputy Zonal Manager of PNB, Guwahati Zone.
