Petrol Prices Rise in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Petrol price were increased on 7th January reaching an all time high of Rs. 87.78 per litre, after a hike of 23 paise. Diesel prices were also hiked by 26 paise and now stands at Rs.74.38 per litre.

This occurred after a month long steady prices maintained by oil companies. This is the first price hike after a month and now the rates are seeing an all time high.

In Mumbai, petrol is retailing at Rs. 90 per litre and in Chennai, petrol stands at Rs. 86.96 per litre.

Debajit Baishya, President of All Assam Bike Taxi Operators' Union (AABTOU), while talking to G Plus said, “Over the years, the Assam government, by raising the price of petrol by 10-20 paise, has almost brought it to Rs. 90 per litre. The government should understand that when the price of fuel increases, the prices of other things increase automatically. It becomes very difficult for the common man to survive like this. I would like to request the Assam government to please take into consideration all of this and reduce the price of fuel."

“We will also be holding a protest regarding this. Currently the Rapido Association of Assam is holding meetings and we will shortly be deciding on a protest date,” he further added.
