Pay Cut for Govt Employees if Involved in Protests on Working Days: HBS

GUWAHATI: The Assam state finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 22 said that if state government employees are found to be protesting on working days, they will have to bear a pay cut for the said day.

According to reports, Sarma said during a function at the Kalakshetra Auditorium that government employees specially teachers of schools, colleges and universities if found protesting on working days will lose a day’s salary. However, this also applies to all state government employees.

Further, the minister said that the students living in government hostels will get Rs.700 per month from Feb 2020. It is to be mentioned that more than 20,000 students will be benefited and the amount will directly be transferred to their respective bank accounts.
