GUWAHATI: People of Assam will be able to watch the Bihu performance during the Grand Bihu celebrations in Guwahati on April 14, announced Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
While addressing the media in a press meeting, the Chief Minister said that the people of Assam will be able to experience and watch the performers live if they wish to.
The Sarusajai Stadium will be made available from April 11-13 for anyone who wishes to come and watch the performers practice live.
Sarma said, “All the performers from across the state will arrive in Guwahati on April 10 and will be accommodated in various hotels in the city by the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration.”
“From April 11 they will be participating in the dress rehearsals which will be held in the Sarusajai Stadium from 9 AM till the evening. Anybody who wishes to watch the performers live can visit the Sarusajai Stadium and witness the performance from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM,” Sarma further added.
There is also provision for people interested in watching the actual programme on April 14, announced CM Sarma.
“For people who wish to watch the actual programme, passes would be made available from April 11 at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. People interested, can get the passes from there and watch the performers live on April 14 along with the entire world.”
All expenses of the performers, including food and medicine will be taken care of by the state government. The performers will be returning home from Guwahati on the morning of April 15.
The state government has also created a beautiful environment regarding Assam’s Bihu celebrations in other cities of the country like, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi etc, the Chief Minister also stated.
On April 14, over 11,000 artists from all districts of Assam will perform together at Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium and make an attempt to set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records in the folk-dance category.
