GUWAHATI: With the Panchayat Polls starting in Assam, the State Government seems to have acquired the public buses across the state, leaving commuters in dire straits. Commuters are likely to be troubled for next few days in Guwahati too.

Several buses were seen parked at Sonaram field over the past few days and will be moving to the respective polling stations starting today.

"I am unable to get a direct bus to my hometown from Khanapara. All the buses seem engaged on poll duty. Now these private buses are charging extra money and taking advantage of the situation." said a commuter speaking to G Plus.

Commuters in the city will bear the brunt of the Panchayat Elections and it shows how the public transportation system in the city has failed.
