Over 800 Stranded Tourists Rescued From Sikkim Amidst Heavy Snowfall

 

GUWAHATI: The Indian Army has successfully rescued more than 800 tourists, including elderly individuals, women, and children, who were stranded due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the high-altitude areas of East Sikkim. The operation was conducted by the troops of Trishakti Corps, who swung into action upon receiving the distress call.

As per reports on the afternoon of December 13, 2023, the tourists found themselves stranded in the challenging weather conditions, prompting the Indian Army to initiate rescue efforts. The stranded individuals are being relocated to secure areas and the Army is providing essential support, including shelter, warm clothing, medical aid, and hot meals to those affected.

The soldiers reportedly vacated their barracks to accommodate the stranded. Expressing their gratitude, the stranded tourists conveyed their appreciation for the immediate relief provided by the Indian Army.
