GUWAHATI: The Excise Department of Kamrup (Metro) District in Assam has released its latest report, highlighting substantial seizures and fines imposed as part of their ongoing efforts to curb illicit activities in the month of June.
The total number of raids has been recorded to be 45 with total cases coming out to 90. People arrested under section 53(1)(a) of the Assam Excise (Amendment) Act, 2018 is 5 and under section 61(B) is 54
The total fine realised from various operations amounted to ₹156,000, reflecting the stringent enforcement actions undertaken by the Excise Department.
Among the significant seizures made by the department, a total of 2,030 litres of illicit distilled (ID) liquor were confiscated.
Additionally, the report reveals the seizure of 1,200 kilogram of foreign-made (F/W) contraband, further tightening the grip on illegal substances in the district.
The confiscation of 08 DA sets indicates the department's success in dismantling unauthorised establishments and preventing the misuse of dangerous equipment.
Furthermore, 36.00 bulk litres of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) were seized, underscoring the department's vigilance in intercepting the illegal supply of alcohol.
In their pursuit of maintaining law and order, the Excise Department also seized two vehicles that were being used for unlawful activities.
