GUWAHATI: As part of the economic measures for the poor, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the beneficiaries were to get additional 5 kg of wheat/rice for free per person. Apart from this, 1 kg of the preferred pulse was also to be provided per household for three months over and above what beneficiaries got already under the scheme, announced Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman 26th March.

As per the central government's report on the progress of the scheme, 67.65 lakh metric tons of food grains had been lifted by 36 States/UTs until 30th April.
16 lakh metric tons of food grains have been distributed, covering 60.33 crore beneficiaries by the States/UTs for April.
In the month of May, 6.19 lakh metric tons of food grains have been distributed, covering 12.39 crore beneficiaries by 22 States/UTs so far.
Further, 2.42 lakh metric tons of pulses have also been dispatched to various states/UTs. Out of the 19.4 crore beneficiaries who were to receive, 5.21 crore have received the pulses.
