Emergency Alert Issued In Dima Hasao Amidst Heavy Rain, Citizens Urged to Stay Indoors

 

GUWAHATI: In response to a weather warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), residents of Dima Hasao District have been urged to exercise caution and refrain from venturing outdoors from May 2 to May 4, 2024, until the inclement weather subsides.

This advisory comes on May 2 amidst forecasts of heavy rainfall expected to impact the region during this period.

As a precautionary measure, all educational institutions in the district will remain closed until May 4, 2024, to ensure the safety of students and staff members.

The transport department, in coordination with the Superintendent of Police (SP) office, has been tasked with overseeing traffic management in light of the adverse weather conditions.

A traffic advisory has been issued, notifying commuters that the Jatinga-Harangajao Stretch at NH-27 will be closed to all vehicles and traffic until 4:00 PM today due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.

Authorities emphasise the importance of adhering to these safety measures and urge residents to stay updated on further developments through official channels.
