Organised Iron Manhole Covers Theft Syndicate Busted In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police busted an organised crime syndicate involved in stealing iron manhole covers from footpaths across the city on November 20. The stolen items were funneled into a larger network for resale, spanning areas like Changsari, Ghograpara, and Rangia.

The authorities uncovered that the stolen covers were being supplied to Amit Kumar, a scrap dealer operating under the name Amit Seraogi in Arya Nagar, Bharalumukh. The materials were then sold to KD Iron Steel Trading Pvt Ltd., located at ITDC, Moranjena Rongia, owned by Dilip Goenka, a resident of Zoo Road, Guwahati.  

Several individuals from the second group of perpetrators, including Md. Ajar Ali, Md. Ajiubr Khan, and Md. Jeherul Ali from the Ghograpara and Rangia regions, have been arrested. Additionally, the authorities apprehended Amit Kumar Siddha, a scrap dealer from Bharalumukh, and Anil Goenka, the manager of KD Iron Steel Trading Pvt Ltd.  


Legal action will be taken against all individuals involved. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend others connected to this network.
