Leader of the opposition, Debabrata Saikia has urged Assam Police to file FIR against State minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In a letter written to the DGP, Assam, the congress leader mentioned that lately Himanta Biswa Sarma has been making 'communal' statements in public gatherings. Such statements by a senior leader of the BJP might have a very damaging effect on the state's law and order, stated the letter.
The letter also states that being a citizen of the state, such acts are not acceptable and requests that in the lines of arrest of Dr Hiren Gohain, the Assam Police should immediately file a case under IPC 135 (A) and 295 (A) against Himanta Biswa Sarma.
