One Soldier Rescued, 22 Still Missing In Sikkim Flood, Indian Army Launches Operation

GUWAHATI: In the wake of a flash flood in Sikkim, the Indian Army has initiated a search and rescue operation for 23 missing soldiers, with one soldier successfully rescued, and reported to be in stable condition.

The troops from the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army have undertaken an extensive search and rescue mission to locate the remaining 22 missing soldiers. The challenging operation is being conducted under adverse conditions, characterised by continuous heavy rainfall and fast-flowing waters in the Teesta River.

Furthermore, several roads and bridges in the region have been washed away due to the force of the floodwaters. Concerned about the welfare of the missing soldiers, the family members of these individuals have been contacted and briefed about the situation.

In light of the disruption of mobile communication networks caused by the flood, other Indian Army personnel stationed in Sikkim and North Bengal have faced challenges in communicating with their families. However, it has been clarified that all other army personnel are safe.
