GUWAHATI: With National Register of Citizens (NRC) final draft round the corner, the Assam Police is not taking any chances.
The Hailakandi police on Thursday, 26th July, arrested one Sabir Shah for posting mis-information on Facebook.
Shah had posted that orders have been given to strike off Bengali people’s names from the draft NRC without any reason. The social media team of the Assam Police was quick to react and Shah got arrested.
Persons who are involved in creating tension through social media channels are being monitored round-the-clock by the social media team of Assam Police.
