Olympic Medalist Lovlina Borgohain Honoured With Best Sportsperson Of The Year Award

 

GUWAHATI: Olympic medalist and boxing icon Lovlina Borgohain was honoured with the Best Sportsperson of the Year Award at the OIL-ASJA Sports Awards, hosted by the Assam Sports Journalists’ Association (ASJA) on Sunday, September 15 in Guwahati.

The event, held at Landmark Hotel, recognised outstanding athletes and sports figures from Assam for their contributions and achievements over the past year.

Borgohain, who received the award from Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, expressed her gratitude on social media. She wrote, “Sincere thanks to Assam Sports Journalist Association for awarding me the best sports person of the year award. I am truly humbled for the tremendous support and love that I have received from you. It is for you that I am recognised by everyone for who I am and to also contribute to enhance the environment of true sports culture through their unconditional dedication of true journalism. I am honoured to receive this prestigious award through the Hon’ble Minister Shree Jayanta Mallabaruah sir.” 

In addition to Borgohain, several athletes from various sports disciplines were honoured during the ceremony. Veteran sports journalist Premadhar Sarma was also presented with the Sports Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI) medal, recognising his contributions to sports journalism.
