Oil India Headquarters To Shift To Guwahati Within A Month

GUWAHATI: The Oil India corporate headquarters will be shifted from Delhi NCR to Guwahati’s Bamunimaidam within a month.

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli said this while speaking to the media on Tuesday, February 21.

The Assam Government has already provided 7 bighas of land for the construction of the head office in Guwahati. Until the completion of the construction, official works of Oil India will be carried out at a temporary office in the city's Bhangagarh area.

Speaking to the media, Rameswar Teli said, "After a conversation with Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma, it was decided that the headquarters must be brought to Assam within a month. The office will be at Bamunimaidam and 7 bighas of land have already been given by the Assam Govt to Oil India. We have also pulled out a tender to work on the design of the headquarters."

Earlier in 2021, the Central Government had asked Oil India to shift its head office to Assam from the capital region after a massive fire broke out in its oilfields that took three lives, displaced almost a hundred families and took five months to douse.
